I am running to represent you at city council for Ward 2 in Mississauga. I am running on a platform of affordability, safety, investment and growth. I'll work to bring back common sense governance that bases decisions on information, evidence and science, that aims to build a fairer and better city for all. I'll work to your lower taxes, to make our neighbourhoods safer, to attract investment and business (both small and large), to grow our economy and create jobs. I'll work to bring back common sense ideas like merit, civil discourse and personal responsibility. Finally I'll work to increase transparency and accountability to restore faith in government.

For bold new ideas, common sense and a fresh perspective vote for me on October 26th. I look forward to serving everyone in my Ward, Mississauga and Peel.

Biography

​

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa and immigrated to Canada with my wife 14 years ago. I am extremely proud to have earned my citizenship and be able to call myself Canadian.

 

I have a Business Science degree with an honours in Finance from the University of Cape Town and last year completed an L.L.B. at the Open University.

​

I founded and ran my own business before immigrating and have many years experience working in the management, investment and sales side of real estate. 

​

I love our community and have spent the past 4 years volunteering on my children's school councils and as a board member at the Port Credit Figure Skating Club. 

​

Most importantly I am a husband and father to two incredible, intelligent and wonderful girls both born and raised here in Canada and Mississauga. 

​

I often wonder who a candidate is and what they stand for and so in that spirit I share here some views I support that influence my politics and decisions:

​

  • civil debate and discourse are essential to democracy, if you disagree with any of the following then I encourage you to contact me, you may even change my mind. 

  • decisions should be based on information, evidence and science not feelings, beliefs or faith.

  • merit matters

  • equality of opportunity is worth pursing, equity of outcomes is not.

  • free market capitalism is the fastest way to end poverty and enrich all who live under it, it should not be confused with cronyism which is awful. Governments still need to work against monopolies and can temper free markets with limited social supports.

  • discrimination on the basis of race, sex, sexual orientation, colour, religion, ethnicity or disability is always wrong, there is no positive about it.

  • the tenets of the rule of law, equal application of the law and innocent until proven guilty are essential to liberal democracies.

  • policy, laws and government actions should be measurable and measured, they should consider unintended consequences and before commencing they should always consider the benefits and the costs, where they fail they should be ended, altered and/or improved.

  • apologizing for mistakes is a strength, not a weakness.

  • sometimes the right thing to do is politically expensive and enormously unpopular.

  • politicians should be judged by their actions not their words.
